Well regardless if you are or aren’t here it is anyway.
A few months ago I posted a picture of my latest attempt at cooking – a Honey Sesame Chicken, which you guys all seemed to go a bit nuts for. And I’ve had so many requests for the recipe that I thought it was about time to get it written down so I could share it with you all.
Now I have made this dish quite a few times in the last few months, but I’ve not shared it until now because it has taken me a few attempts to get the sweetness right……The first attempt it was more dessert than main meal – boke!
Happily I’ve got it pretty much spot on now for my taste buds, so I hope you guys will like it too.
This dish is SUPER easy to make, it will take you about 10 minutes max to prep, and you should have most ingredients already at home…if not you can get hold of them pretty easily.
Give it a bash, this dish is packed with flavour, has a moorish super sticky sauce and can be whipped up after work. I promise you if you enjoy sweet savoury dishes as much as I do you are going to love this.
3-4 Chicken Breasts, diced into bite sized pieces
2 tbsp Cornstarch
For your sauce
6 tbsp Honey
1 tbsp Caster Sugar
1 tbsp Brown Sugar
4 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
3 tbsp Soy Sauce
2 tbsp White Vinegar
½ tsp Salt
1 tsp Garlic Salt
2 tbsp Cornstarch
1 tbsp Cold Water
Sesame Seeds for garnish
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 190C
Step 2. In a bowl whisk together the sauce ingredients – honey, sugars, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, salt, garlic salt, cornstarch and water, leave to one side for the moment.
Step 3. In a large bowl combine the chicken and cornstarch, mix with your hand until the chicken is well covered. In a large skillet or frying pan saute the chicken in a little oil over a medium heat until the chicken is browned, this will normally take 3-4 minutes…don’t worry about it being cooked through.
Step 4. Add the chicken to the bowl containing the sauce and give it a good mix together, then transfer everything in the bowl to a baking dish, and pop into the oven for 20-25 minutes. Once the chicken is cooked through remove from the oven. In the oven the sauce will reduce down to give you a gorgeous sticky sauce.
Step 5. Serve with rice and garnish with some sesame seeds and spring onion (if you want to be really posh) Enjoy!
