Mars Bar Crispie Cake Recipe
How do you make Mars bar cake even more delicious.... You add a layer of caramel
5 Mars Bars
155g Unsalted Butter divided into 100g & 55g
90g Rice Krispies
1 jar of Caramel / or homemade caramel
350g chocolate, chopped into small pieces
Step 1. Line a 9×9 inch pan with greaseproof paper and set to one side
Step 2. In a large bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water melt the mars bars and 100g of the butter, stirring occasionally until everything has melted….don’t over stir or the mixture will split. Once melted, remove from the heat.
Step 3. Add the rice krispies to the chocolate mix, giving them a good stir to make sure they are well coated. Pour the mixture into the pre prepared pan and using the spoon try to squish them down a wee bit so the top is lever, then pop in the fridge for at least an hour to set.
Step 4. Remove the tray from the fridge and spread a thin layer of caramel over the top and put it back into the fridge for a couple of hours just to let the caramel chill down properly.
Step 5. To make the chocolate topping – In a large bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water melt the chocolate and remaining 55g butter, stirring until smooth. Remove the chocolate mixture from the heat, and allow it to cool a little before gently spreading over the top of the rice krispy mixture. Pop back into the fridge for a couple of hours to set, before cutting into squares and enjoying.
